Oneida Nation of the Thames - Antone-Doxtator Crisis Donation

December 23rd, 2016

Shekoli Swakewe:ku Chiefs,

I hope that this message finds you all in good spirits and health.

I would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude for the support, prayers and well wishes we have received. It has been a very traumatic and heart breaking experience for our community.

On behalf of the family and community, we are grateful for the overwhelming response for donations and the warm outreach we have received from friends, family and total strangers across the country. I especially want to thank the "Chiefs" for sending their condolences and prayers.

We have suffered a terrible tragedy, one in which we will slowly recover but together through the strength of others and our ceremonies, we will find comfort and peace.

Regarding donations, we are overwhelmed with the amount of clothing and food and other material goods that we received. The immediate family has requested that I send to you their thank you for support.

At this time, the immediate family has requested that for those that continue to provide support that they contribute directly to a special bank account established for this purpose.

Once again, thank you for your sympathy and comforting support during our time of loss. Your kind words and actions of comfort have been a powerful remedy to our grieving hearts.
