WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT: HEALTH & SAFETY A #1 PRIORITY

Dear Community,

Now that we’ve re-opened our government buildings (excluding the school and OELC),

we would like to stress a few points moving forward. Although additional staff have

safely returned to the workplace, some have continued their work from home.

Although we’ve re-opened our workplaces, the health & safety of our staff remains a

top priority.

How have we mitigated the health risks in our buildings?

As part of the return to work strategy, Loomex Pandemic Coordinator Kayla

Stephenson and Carol Holmes, a Registered Nurse from Peterborough Regional Health

Centre conducted an inspection of all workplaces to implement a safe working

environment prior to re-opening. As a result of this vital collaboration, we’ve installed

plexiglass throughout offices, set-up additional hand-sanitizing stations and attached

social distancing labels throughout buildings. Furthermore, staff are required to wear

masks when six feet of separation cannot be attained.

Administration along with Chief & Council understand the importance of membership

having access to services. As much as we’d like to return to the normalcy that existed

before the COVID-19 pandemic, we cannot be haste in our decisions that could not

only jeopardize the well-being of staff, but also the community at large.

Keeping in line with this principle, individuals must make appointments ahead of time

before visiting government buildings. If there is a need for individuals to enter a

workplace, they will be required to wear a mask and will be guided by the appropriate

personnel. Entrance doors to buildings will remain locked to prevent unnecessary risks.

Although there may be instances when one of our buildings may be vacant, our staff

are always available and will coordinate access to workplaces when required.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Best regards,

Mile Lazarevski
