Hiding and Tanning for Women’s Healing Workshop

Please note that the drums will not be taken home by the participants. The drums will be gifted to someone and/or a place as determined at the workshop.

In this workshop for female-identified people, Anne Taylor will explore embodied ancestry and trauma for Indigenous women, youth, and the greater community, through the traditions of hiding and tanning. Through language and visual arts, Anne will demonstrate stories of strength and resilience of mothers, grannies and great grannies as told by the Anishnaabe people.

About Anne: Cultural Archivist at the Curve Lake Cultural Centre at Curve Lake First Nation, Anne is a traditional Anishnaabekwe storyteller, as well as the coordinator of the Curve Lake Annual Pow Wow. Through her cultural arts facilitation, Anne increases access to education in the visual and performing arts, culture and humanities for Curve Lake residents of all ages with specific concentration on youth development and professional growth.
